Case Collection
The unalex Case Collection currently comprises more than 12000 fulltext judgments of EU Member State courts and the CJEU.
The unalex Case Collection offers various options to search for a judgment, e.g., by file number, legal instrument, systematic search, full text. Moreover, cases are stored in the unalex database with a specific “unalex-number”, consisting of the abbreviation of the State and a continuous number [example: “AT-122”]. These “unalex-numbers” are part of the particular unalex citation/ linking system used in all our products.
Our cases come with one or several case headnotes, prepared in multiple languages. A case headnote refers to a certain “rule of interpretation” applied by the court with regard to the interpretation of a European legal instrument. It is worded by reducing it to the essence of an interpretation. These headnotes are used in a concise way in the format of the unalex Compendium to offer the legal practice a structured overview of interpretation of instruments on International and Uniform Law.
Report new cases
Our editorial board is always grateful for any new cases. Information on how to report a new case you can find here.
Compendium
The unalex Compendium is a systematic overview of the cases assembled in the unalex Case Collection. It is organised in accordance with the legal instruments – EU Regulations and international conventions – and the articles within each legal instrument. In each article, the Compendium provides an overview of cases structured by topic.
The Compendium is a format which provides systematic access to the Case Collection by organising individual judgments according to arguments. Judgments’ full texts are accessible directly from the Compendia. In reverse, the interactive keywords in the judgments point towards the Compendia, where the broader background of thematically similar cases is listed.
unalex is regularly updated, thereby headnotes of judgments newly added to the Case Collection are incorporated into the Compendia and organised thematically. Consequently, the Compendia represent the respective current state of the cases available in the Case Collection. New Compendia are constantly added.
Legislative Texts/Materials
To complete, System unalex offers a collection of subedited legislative texts and materials on EU Regulations and international conventions. These texts come in a convenient pdf format.
Table of contents with keywords offer a quick overview and access.
The collection is, in particular in relation to international conventions, regularly updated.
